There are so many different ways that the internet has turned traditional logic and common sense on its head. We are seeing people apply for employment positions overseas, we are buying products from the other side of the world, but are you really casting the net wide enough for your hosting services?

While there are obvious drawbacks to employing an overseas web hosting company, these are not problems which will have a major impact. Probably the larger one is the potential time delay, although many companies now employ people to oversee their operations outside of their traditional time zones, ensuring there is someone there to help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

One area which the internet has not really been able to impact upon is the physical cost of employing people in different areas of the world, and there is still a great variation across the globe. This has enabled some of the lower cost base countries of the world to benefit, offering cheaper and more competitive services, but are they of similar quality to the more expensive ones available? The more mainstream well known brands?

It is difficult to tar each cheap hosting company with the same brush, but there is obviously going to be some kind of difference in the quality of service and facilities. Whether this would make any actual difference to your operation depends on what you are after, and what you website actually does.

While there are some great offers out there, you still need to be very careful and ensure that above all you receive a good standard of service for your money. Often easier said than done!
