If you ask a group of internet users what they find most useful about the world wide web, the majority will probably say that it brings information to their home, it shows them how to do things they would never have known about, in essence it is an information exchange. The best information will always rise to the top in the end, but it needs to be recent, helpful and aimed at the right people. Online tutorials are big business, whether you are looking at finance, painting, or how to make up a baby’s bottle, if the information is good enough someone will read it!

Never under estimate the impact of tutorials, and the power they can give you if you advertise them in the right places. A useful tutorial can do wonders for your website traffic, and if it is something useful and unique there is every chance it will be passed around the web to millions of users. If you are able to harness this power and channel it into your website, the mass of new readers are your clients of tomorrow. Give them what they want to see, save them some money, or tell them how to improve their home, and they will be back time and time again!

Many people fall into the trap of believing that their tutorials need to show people something new, when in reality they need only show people a new way to do an every day task. If you can save someone a pound a day, they may come back, if you can save them £10 a day they will be back with their friends.

On the downside it must be said that actually putting together a useful tutorial is a work of art, and takes time and patience. If you rush the process, you run the risk of spoiling something which could move your site onto a different level. Think the ideas through, think the process through and think which market you have written the tutorial for – let them know it is there, it is free, and ready for them to read.

Once you have them on your site, then it is up to you what happens next!
